When it comes to caring for your heart, it’s important to have a knowledgeable, experienced team on your side. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S., but with the right heart care approach, you can prevent suffering heart damage. At Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, our nationally-recognized cardiac surgeons work with the latest surgical techniques and cutting-edge tools to help you get the best care available. Whether it’s an emergency surgery or a stent placement, you’re in good hands at Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

Helping Hearts in Texas

Heart care requires a comprehensive approach of preparation, procedure, and rehabilitation. Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas helps patients get exactly what they need to return to their lives following a cardiac incident by involving a team of cardiologists, vascular surgeons, and rehabilitative specialists.

Surgeries we have performed include:

  • Cardiac catheterization – When a blood clot forms and blocks entry into or exit from the valves or vessels of the heart, it can be necessary to clear it away by inserting a catheter into the heart
  • Stent placement – For weakened arteries where blood has difficulty passing through, placing a stent can provide structure and reinforcement to help the heart work better
  • Coronary bypass – Due to hardening of the arteries, the heart begins to work much harder to provide oxygenated blood to the rest of the body. An open-heart surgery such as this may require the implantation of artificial valves and a pacemaker

Providing Lifesaving Services for Patients with Aortic Stenosis

Aortic stenosis causes a narrowing of the aortic valve which makes it more difficult for the heart to pump blood. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a less invasive procedure used to treat patients with severe aortic stenosis who are at risk for traditional surgical aortic valve replacement.

The TAVR procedure enables the delivery of an artificial heart valve through a small incision using a catheter-based approach. The new valve functions like a normal heart valve, improving blood flow and reduces symptoms caused by aortic stenosis. Baptist Beaumont Hospital is the only hospital in Southeast Texas that performs this procedure.

Rehabilitative Therapy

The Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas helps patients to train their heart to function normally again. With a personalized rehabilitative program, you can improve your health and quality of life by decreasing potential risk factors that lead to heart disease.
