Chaplaincy Services
Providing Spiritual Care at Beaumont Baptist Hospital
As an extension of the Sacred Work we provide at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, our Chaplaincy Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to support the spiritual needs of patients and their family members.
In addition to spiritual resources, our Chaplaincy Service is available to assist and guide you and your family with difficult and complex decisions you may need to make during your stay.
These can include:
- Treatment options
- Artificial life support
- End-of-life issues
- Living wills
- Quality of life
During the night hours, a chaplain is on-call to return to the hospital for emergency situations. We strive to make it easy for patients to get spiritual care when they need it most. When a patient or patient’s family member requests a visit by a chaplain, our chaplains are readily available. Chaplains can also assist in contacting a patient’s clergy if they wish to speak or see them.
Our chaplains are also available to:
- Be present for the death of a patient
- Offer assistance to critical patients (in danger of dying when death is not expected)
- Provide support during emergency surgery to distraught patients or family members
- Help in any situation in which help can be given to provide better care for patients or better public relations
- Answer questions regarding End of Life situations and Advanced Directives
- Advise on ethical issues in medical treatment
