Teen Mental Health Program in Beaumont
Helping Young People Become Their Best Selves
At Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, our Behavioral Health department is helping adolescents take control of their mental health. Our Teen Mental Health Program is designed to help young people with disruptive, emotional, or behavioral problems. By helping them learn to navigate through life’s storms with a good attitude, they are better prepared to maximize opportunities later on in life.
Identifying Mental Illness in Teens
The teenage years are especially turbulent. While this can be a time for them to begin identifying their character and personality, the flux between knowing and feeling can result in some unhealthy choices that lead to bad consequences. The way they deal with consequences can help friends and family to identify symptoms of mental illness.
Some signs of mental illness can include:
- Reduced energy
- Lack of appetite
- Sleeping trouble
- Inability to focus
- Losing interest in favorite activities
These are just some of the ways children can display signs of inner trouble. We help these teens to understand their triggers and exercise ways to stay mindful of their feelings and responses.
We help teens with common mental health disorders such as:
- Anxiety disorders: Fear and panic-related disorders
- Mood disorders: Depression and Bipolar disorder
- Personality disorders: Antisocial behavior and narcissism, as well as paranoia
- Eating disorders: Anorexia and bulimia
- Obsessive-compulsive disorders
