How Treatments Work
When it comes to chronic migraine headaches, one area in particular has been known to be a common contributor to pain. It is a group of nerve cells called the Sphenopalatine Ganglion (SPG) housed right behind the nose. This area is highly sensitive to pain and, for those with chronic migraines, can be quickly thrown into an overexcited state that results in a headache. This procedure, called an SPG block, access these nerve cells to numb them with anesthesia and keep them in their calm state for longer.
While this treatment will not cure migraines for good, regular treatments have yielded overwhelmingly positive results for those who have tried them.
