Born in Newark, New Jersey, Dr. Al-Bayan is the younger of two children. She graduated magna cum laude from Hampton University in Virginia, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then went on to earn her medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, where she also completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology. During her matriculation at Meharry, Dr. Al-Bayan developed an interest in clinical research and took part in several research studies focusing on health conditions that disproportionately affect minority populations. She remains committed to patient education and advocacy, especially in underserved communities. Currently, Dr. Al-Bayan is a Junior Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She was drawn to the field of OB/GYN due to its unique incorporation of continuity care, preventative medicine, and surgical interventions. She considers it an immense honor to be able to witness the miracle of childbirth for a living, caring for patients from preconception to postpartum and beyond.

Dr. Christopher Dowdy attended Texas A&M University, where he majored in biochemistry, before receiving his M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed his internship and his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Baylor, as well. Dr. Dowdy has been a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1998, and he’s been a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists since 2000. Dr. Amira R. Alkhatib is currently a practicing OB/GYN at the Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, TX. She was born and raised on Staten Island, New York and is honored to provide care for the women of Southeast Texas. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the State University of New York at Albany and subsequently earned her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York, NY. Working in women’s health is something Dr. Alkhatib has always been passionate about. In medical school, she partook in weekly school programs to tutor her underclassmen specifically in the field of OB/GYN prior to graduating summa cum laude in the top 5% of her class. She then successfully completed a four-year residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since graduation, Dr. Alkhatib has been providing general OB/GYN care with special interests in contraceptive management, abnormal uterine bleeding, and preventative health. Born in Houston, TX, but a native of Atlanta, GA, Dr. Georgina Iyamu earned her BS in Health and Exercise Science at Wake Forest University, her MPH at Emory University, and MD from Meharry Medical College. She completed her internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Meharry Medical College and served as the Chief Resident during her last year. Dr. Iyamu has been the recipient of numerous awards including the American Rhodes Scholar, and the Clifford E. Minton and Alma H. Minton Memorial Endowed Scholarship. She participated in various research projects involving the role anticancer chemotherapy plays in post-thaw sperm function, evaluating proteomic analyses of diminished AHSG expression in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, creating standardized clinical screening protocols to reduce complications of thrombophilia in pregnant patients, and increasing underrepresented minorities access to healthcare professions through pipeline opportunities, just to name a few. She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Medical Women Association, American Association of Cancer Research, American Public Health Association, and a Diamond Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Dr. Iyamu has a varied personality including ambition, perseverance, and the qualities of generosity and thoughtfulness. She is a well determined and vigorous individual, yet pleasantly calm.
